Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit is the posh option on Sukhumvit Road, three minutes on foot from BTS Nana and four from BTS Asok. My wife booked two nights there for my birthday in July 2025 on her Accor Plus membership and we paid ฿11,429 for two, taxes included. The front desk upgraded us to a Junior Suite at check-in. This post covers the suite, the Club Millésime lounge on the 31st floor, breakfast at Bella Sera and how close the hotel sits to Soi 11 and Nana Plaza.

Finding Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

The hotel has 345 rooms and suites at 189 Sukhumvit Road between Soi 13 and Soi 15, which puts it almost exactly between two BTS stations. Google Maps makes Nana a three minute walk to the west and Asok four minutes to the east. Which one you use depends on the evening. Asok has the hotel's own covered skywalk, which also drops you into Terminal 21 for a shopping walk back, while Nana puts you at the mouth of Soi 11 for a drink on the way in.

Soi 11 is the next soi along and it is the drinking street. Above Eleven on the 33rd floor of Fraser Suites and Pastel on the 22nd floor of the Aira Hotel cover the rooftops, Levels and Sugar Club cover the clubs and Oskar Bistro and Havana Social cover the street. Nana Plaza is a ten minute walk the other way. It is three storeys of go-go bars around a courtyard on Soi 4, where the dancing is on poles and the dancers can be bar fined, if that is the kind of night you are after.

Junior Suite 2305 On The 23rd Floor

We booked a Luxury Room with Club Millésime access on the Unlock Luxury promotion in May. At check-in the front desk moved us up to a Junior Suite on our Accor Platinum, which gives an upgrade to the next room category when one is free. The room was ready when we arrived at half past one, ahead of the 2pm check-in time.

Junior Suites run to 60 square metres. The door opens on a living room with a curved cream sofa, a desk and a red patterned rug over dark wood floors, with a hallway running past the wardrobe to the bedroom.

The bedroom has a king bed, a wing armchair by the window and framed paper botanicals on the walls. The hotel had spelled out Happy Birthday in petals across the bed and tied a ribbon bow beside it. The bouquet and the balloon in the room were from my wife.

The bathroom is marble from floor to ceiling, with twin basins under ring-lit mirrors, a separate shower and a deep tub set under a window that looks straight into the bedroom. Karl Lagerfeld hand wash, shampoo and conditioner hang in the shower. A leather drawer on the counter holds cotton pads, a comb and a dental kit.

The minibar counter carries a capsule coffee machine with a box of capsules and tea bags, a kettle and an ice bucket. The drawer below holds two tubes of Pringles, truffle crisps and miniatures of Beefeater gin, Tito's vodka and a whisky. The fridge is stocked with Pepsi, Orangina, Singha, Heineken and Evian. Everything in the suite worked and everything felt expensive, which is what you want at this price.

Club Millésime On The 31st Floor

Platinum status opens Club Millésime on the 31st floor whatever room you book. The Junior Suite includes it anyway. The lounge serves afternoon tea from 2pm to 4pm and evening cocktails with canapés from 5pm to 7pm, with breakfast there from 6.30am. We went up for tea on the first afternoon: a pot of Earl Grey, finger sandwiches and two small hot dog buns at a window table over Sukhumvit.

The Club Millésime sign and a large numeral 31 in the lift lobby of the 31st floor at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, with a blue patterned carpet.

Cocktail hour for us was champagne and gin and tonic, with a cocktail list we never got round to. The room itself is blue sofas, orchids on every table and a wall of round blue canvases, with the city filling the windows on two sides.

Breakfast At Bella Sera

Breakfast comes two ways, in the lounge or at Bella Sera, the hotel's Italian restaurant. We went to Bella Sera both mornings because the spread is far bigger. An egg station cooks from a menu of fried, scrambled, Thai omelette, eggs Benedict, boiled and poached, with a pancake, waffle and French toast griddle beside it. The bakery counter runs from croissants to doughnuts, the juice bar keeps bottled juices on ice and a wall of wine frames the cold cuts and cheeses. There are Asian dishes in steamer baskets for anyone who wants rice at 9am.

I had bacon and sausages with fried eggs on the first morning and the eggs Benedict on the second. We never tried the lounge breakfast, because the restaurant wins on choice.

The other restaurant worth your evening is Belga on the 32nd floor, the Belgian brasserie with Tintin on the walls and a terrace over Sukhumvit. It is really good and it will get a post of its own.

The Gym, The Pool And The Bill

We did use the gym, which is kitted out entirely with Technogym equipment. The pool did not impress us, which is the one place the hotel falls short of its price. The bill came to ฿11,429 for two nights, taxes and service included: ฿6,210 for the first night on the Unlock Luxury rate and ฿3,500 for the second on the Accor Plus Stay Plus benefit, before service charge and VAT. For a suite with lounge access and breakfast for two, that is about ฿5,700 a night.

We spent three nights at SO/ Bangkok for the same birthday a year later. The Sofitel is the more posh of the two, from the marble bathroom to the lounge, while SO/ wins on the view, because nothing on Sukhumvit beats a room over Lumphini Park. We would book the Sofitel again. For more on where to stay in Bangkok, start with our Bangkok guide, then the honey afternoon tea at the Diplomat Bar if a lounge tea is your idea of an afternoon.
